At 76 years old, Glen is a shining example of what long-term recovery can make possible. With 35 years of sobriety and 31 years alongside his beloved wife, he says his favorite part of this journey is how it has helped him grow deeper in love, both for others and for himself. Glen carries simple but powerful tools, like the practice of going slow, reminding us that “going slow helps us catch up to the pace of God.” His favorite words in recovery are “I am enough”, “there’s nothing wrong with you”, and “broken crayons still color”. Each reflects the compassion he extends to everyone he meets. Known for his incredible memory and his eagerness to learn from the young, Glen finds great joy in attending the groups and classes upstairs with Doug and the support he receives from his recovery circle. And in true Glen fashion, he sums up his gratitude with a smile and a phrase he loves to say: “I’m overpaid”… meaning, recovery has brought him a lot of joy over the years. We are grateful to know you, Glen! Thank you for choosing Recovery Café as a part of your recovery journey.

Hello!
I am a grateful recovering addict who is blessed to have life experiences of not only addiction but prison, foster care, and the ability to have compassion for those who are still struggling. I believe the difference we can make in each other’s lives is by being the best version of ourselves to those we serve, love, and support. My recovery is an absolute reflection of who I am as a person and what I can offer. I strive to lead by example and make a lasting impression on everyone I encounter in one form or another.
