I don’t know about you, but I had some really amazing people in my life growing up that created a sense of belonging in me that I’ve carried on life’s journey. There was our group of friends that we spent every summer vacation with on Shasta Lake, sharing meals, stories and lots of laughter. There was my friend Sheryl, who was 10 years older than me, who showed me what it was like to be a wife and mom and taught me how to drive stick shift in high school. And there was my own family, who made sure I was able to participate in sports and youth group trips and all the things that other kids were doing. These people invested in me; they created spaces where I belonged. They were excited to see me and hear about what was going on in my life.
This is exactly what we do at Reclaiming Lives/Recovery Café Medford. We invest in people. We believe in them. We create spaces for them to heal and grow.
For those of you who already support our efforts, thank you! We are so honored you chose us. For those who don’t know what we do or haven’t heard about our mission, please check out the rest of this newsletter. Each issue features real stories of lives reclaimed and the impact of finding a place where you belong. If you’re looking for a place to belong, reach out, we’d love to hear from you!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Mendenhall

My Name is Ricky, I am a person in Long-term Recovery. My clean date is 2/17/2018.
Hello!
I am a grateful recovering addict who is blessed to have life experiences of not only addiction but prison, foster care, and the ability to have compassion for those who are still struggling. I believe the difference we can make in each other’s lives is by being the best version of ourselves to those we serve, love, and support. My recovery is an absolute reflection of who I am as a person and what I can offer. I strive to lead by example and make a lasting impression on everyone I encounter in one form or another.
